Daddy's sleeping. Nathaniel pounds the door open and walks in.

Daddy: Hi, there.
Nathaniel: I got boogers. I can maybe get em. (Starts to probe.)
Daddy: It's easier if you blow.
(Nathaniel considers a moment, and grabs a tissue. Mommy walks in.)
Mommy: Come on, baby, let's go downstairs.
Nathaniel: I didn't get em yet.

Daddy: Oh? Mommy says Daddy is cute.

Potty talk

Mommy was all impressed that she brought home a new potty and I used it right away. It's not rocket science, after all.

Speaking of which, I still can't get those plastic frogs to launch the way Daddy can.

Night-night

I got upset that Daddy wouldn't play with me. Finally he explained that he couldn't play because he's sick. So I told him to go, "Night-night," and he did.

Oday, Adin

My two favorite new words are: "Oday" (okay), and "Adin" (again).

New drawing pad

I got lots of great new toys this week. My favorite is a drawing pad, just like Jared's, where you can draw and erase as many times as you want. It even has special pieces so you can draw with shapes instead of just lines.

I get Mommy and Daddy to draw lots of things, but I draw a lot, too. Usually when I draw something I tell them it's a "Bee-ah" (peacock).

I've just started to migrate my journal here from its old location. I'll continue to move the rest of the entries as I find the time.

Christmas 2006

It was a little overwhelming visiting with all our family. There were so many! And they say they weren't even all there.

I spent lots of the time taking care of Aunt Wendy (or is it Cousin Wendy?). We went all over the house together. And what a house! It has three floors, and many rooms on each floor! We started from the first floor, then went up to the second, then went up to the third, then went down to the second, then went up to the third again ... You get the idea. I didn't get to see all the rooms -- in fact, I'm not even sure I got to see all the floors -- but that's okay, because there was plenty to keep busy.

Uncle Roger was a lot of fun, too. He's really good at changing diapers. It was fun when he changed my diaper. (I don't usually like it when people change my diaper.)

I also liked the playground. It had stairs to climb on, and tunnels to go through, and slides to go down, and lots of kids. What more could you ask?

Even traveling was fun. We rode a bus, and another bus, and a train (toot-toot!), and another train. And that was only the way there! Now that we're back, though, I'm kind of tired.

Transitions

Today was the most traumatic experience of my life. Before this, all was blissfully quiet, peaceful, if a bit cramped. Then the pressure started, every few minutes, squeezing my head into a tight place. Then there was this incredibly bright light, brighter than anything I had ever seen. These two gigantic hands reached down and grabbed me, and yanked me from my paradise. At least they removed the cord that was wrapped twice around my neck.

Life is nothing like it was. Suddenly I have to start working for my food, and an incredibly complicated business it is. And I get so uncomfortable sometimes, but nobody seems to understand when I tell them. And there's always people doing things to me that I don't like. I liked it better before, even though it was cramped.

Still, there's so much to look at. I can hardly take it all in.
